December - Band Dinner and Dance
The band held their annual dinner and dance and awards ceremony on Saturday 1st December at St. Austell Golf Club.
Congratulations go to Mark Letcher who picked up the Player of the Year; Steve Hawkey for Best Performance and Bandsman of the Year; Mike Brown for Silkiest Player; Kenny Couch and Nick Annear for Most Improved; and to our Trombone Section Mike Brown, Harriet Teagle, Ben Orchard, and Mike Hall who were awarded the Best Section award.
A great evening was had by all!
November - SWBBA Contest
Under the direction of Musical Director David Johnson, we were delighted to gain 3rd place out of a strong field of 7 at the South West Brass Band Association Contest on Saturday 3rd November, playing Edward Gregson's Of Distant Memories.
Congratulations go to all of the soloists who performed magnificently, and also to Camborne on their well deserved win!
May - New Musical Director Appointed
Further to our success at the Senior Trophy where we achieved 4th place and promotion to the Senior Cup in 2019, we are delighted to announce the appointment of David Johnson as our new Musical Director.
The band are looking forward to an exciting journey under such an experienced and inspirational conductor!
May - British Open Spring Festival Senior Trophy
Under the baton of David Johnson, we were delighted to gain 4th place at the Senior Trophy on Saturday 12th May, and promotion to the Senior Cup for 2019!
This was our first time at the contest, playing Eric Ball's classic Kensington Concerto.
Congratulations go to all of the soloists who performed magnificently, and a big thank you to David for doing a great job at preparing the band.
Congratulations to Wantage Silver on their well deserved win!
March - Regional Championships
Roche Brass performed at the Regional Championships in Torquay on Saturday 8th March.
The band entered the 1st Section, playing Brass Metamorphosis by James Curnow under the direction of David Hamilton, receiving a respectful 8th position out of a strong group of 16 bands.
A massive thank you to David for preparing the band in putting together a great performance, and congratulations to Bournemouth Concert Brass on their well deserved win.
