Flugel & Horns

Flugel - Andy Mitchell

Andrew’s musical career began with Carharrack & St Day in 1988 at the age of six from where he moved to Camborne Youth and then to Redruth Town where he was Principal Cornet.

He joined Camborne Town Band in 1998, initially playing cornet, taking the Principal role for a while, but now has a reputation as a fine flugel player and soloist.

After many successful years with Camborne, 2012 saw Andrew relinquish his position to take up a new challenge with Roche Brass.

Solo Horn - Graham Barker

Graham had previously played for Indian Queens, St Austell and Mount Charles when he moved to Camborne in 1992. Initially he played cornet but soon transferred to tenor horn where he won many special awards.

He began a conducting career at Indian Queens and when he was appointed Bandmaster at Camborne he managed to combine this with the role of solo horn. He decided to concentrate on conducting and was appointed Musical Director in October 2004 - his last playing engagement as solo horn was at the Goff Richard's 60th celebration concert on the 6th November 2004.

Graham stepped down as Musical Director in March 2005 and after a couple of years back at Mount Charles, he returned to Camborne on E flat bass, before showing off his talents again on the horn with the St. Dennis Band.

After a few years in the wilderness, Roche Brass are delighted that Graham has decided to dust off his horn again to take up the solo horn seat.
